In the Style Of

In this photo, I mimicked Annie Lebowitz’s picture of Miley Cyrus that caused a
lot of controversy and uproar in the media in 2008. In order to evoke a different vibe, I decided to change some
natural elements of the photo. 

The young lady in this photo is my sister. In contrast to Cyrus in Lebowitz's work, she has more of a backbone. She is sitting tall. Unlike Cyrus, who was a mere 15-years-old at the time of the photo shoot, my sister is 21 and more confident and sure of herself than Ms. Cyrus was at the time. The picture is somewhat sepia toned, mostly from my decision to model the tint of the photo after my sister’s golden skin tone to evoke a warm and welcoming vibe. I altered the photo in photoshop by “painting” the background to add texture and adding a ring on her finger. The ring is supposed to draw you in to her
photo as Cyrus’ stained lips do in the iconic photo.
