Templar IΕΡΩ Overman

A creation of mine consistent with my superomistic conception of Identity of Power, influenced by some Cubism, and conveying at once the idea of Specular Duel and Templar Knight and Cross. The very reflection is amplified by the brooch and the sword hilt. One of the dazzling beams next to the figure's chest in the mirror, the third from left, makes him one with his own shield. The ancient Greek term "IΕΡΩ" translates as “through the Temple”, instrumental dative of "TO IΕΡON" “temple”, “shrine”, also “sanctuary”. Dedicated to Edgar Allan Poe in his short story William Wilson (1839), and to Nathaniel Hawthorne, in his Howe's Masquerade (1842), whose tone is herein to some extent akin.
