artist: Cristina Reyes Salazar (now known as : Cristina Reyes Hill)
I drew this in ninth grade. The project assignment was based on surrealism. Before starting this project we learned about melting clocks by Salvador Dali and other surrealist and their art. the surrealism theme was based on Self (you): who you are, what you like, qualities you have, things about you only know, etc.
Draw in a dream-like aspect.
Mountains: purple mountains represents where I'm from. Born in Colorado.
Blue fishes in the sky: the blue fishes represent an image to describe how an asthma attack is. a fish out of water is like having an asthma attack, (I have asthma) in need of air.
Syringe puncturing the desert: the syringe presents the fact of being very familiar with the use of needles due to the amount of asthma attacks I had due to the severity of my asthma I had a young age.
The Scorpion:scorpion represents my Zodiac sign Scorpio although I am not 100% Scorpio. I am a Scorpio cusp.
The snake wrapped around the syringe: represents being intrigued with reptiles
and
if you look closely at the tail end of the snake, it turns into a bronchial tube. A bronchial tube is the tube allow oxygen to travel to your lungs. In my drawing the specific tube is how it would look when having an asthma attack. The dark red someonewhat looking stripes that are the muscles tightening, squeezing the b. tubes and yellow mucus fills the inside of the tube. Creating very little space for oxygen travel to the lungs.
The desert: the desert represents the feeling I had of being lonesome.
This surrealism represents "Me." Its probably around 32 inches by 50. Mediums that used hair airbrush and colored pencil.
