Brevity of Time

Brevity of Time

                                                          Fleeting fireflies
                                                          is the time we ride
leaving in a trail of dust
                                                          the trivial that us preoccupy.

                                                          Riding like fleeting fireflies
through the journey we call life,
we feel the hurt of thorns
we touch the drops of rain
resting upon the breasts of the flowers.

We caress the drops of rain,
we enter the realm of thorns
                                                           and with eyes wide open,
we ride our brief time with eloquence
trying not to be torn to pieces
careful not to be torn apart.
Will the flower climb up to my hand?
To each each door do I transit?
                                                           Which path do I take?

                                                            We are like fleeting fireflies
riding the brevity of our time.

It really warms one's day hearing such beautiful words from you. Well, you do have flowers on your lips, after all. That is why we post poems.
We elevate our spirits by reading each other's writings. I love
reading the poems here. It doesn't matter how good the poem is, what matter
is the honesty. I am not as good as you in writing reviews, but I am okay with it. This is your job. And you do a bloody good job Bernie.  Cheers!

Being Me

Oh, Bernadette this is absolutely beautiful. True poetry! So cleverly written and such a joy to read. It is elegant but says everything it has to. It is like a fine white wine with a palette that dances on the tongue. Beautiful, beautiful work xx

Thank you Being Me, It’s so nice to have you here sharing your thoughts. And how wonderful your thoughts are! You certainly have a gift for words. In your last four lines, you gave me a poem. I’ll cherish it, my Poet friend. B

Hey Being Me, it’s Saturday here in New Zealand, and tonight I’ll have a glass of white wine, since you reminded me of it. Cheers! 🥂🥂😁

I don't know how I missed this. You have such a way with words Bernadete. Poems such as you write can only come from deep though observation and a huge soul. All truth...these words. We shine for a second in eternity. Also ...I entirely love the line
'you have flowers on your lips' that you commented to Bernie...now there's a poem right there! Hugs X

Hi Marion, I am getting ready to post another poem when I read your beautiful
words. I am truly happy you like my poems. Well (excuse me Bernie) but I
just have to say that Marion has honey on her lips, and of course, bees hang around there. But you & I are not afraid of bees, we actually love them.
