Native Americans: Bones of the Buffalo

Native Americans: Bones of the Buffalo

In the heart of the Great Plains

Where buffalo roam the prairie grass

Their hoofs drum like thunder

A row of teepees silhouetted against the setting sun

Indian warriors on horseback in the horizon

Painted faces with feathers in their hair

Weapons of bow and arrow

Skilled hunters and warriors

They hunt the buffaloes on the plains

Slaughtering the buffalo for food and clothing

Buffalo meat and hides supply the indians for winter

Bones of the buffalo lay scattered across the plains

An animal sacred to the Plains Indians

The buffalo spirit blows in the sacred wind

The buffalo spirit lives on in the plains
