Poem -

emerald + daisied

Often I would help her
As a youngster
In the garden

dig gently around the plants
she'd say
while she mowed the grass
The other way

grass was emerald
And daisied
under my feet
Short yellow brutal
tearfully neat

Under hers

and I'd swear in that sunshine
To grow my grass long
to find me a man
Who wouldn't be gone

quite so soon

M ~

A lawn is a splendid thing. Except for the mowing of the grass. Lovely Verse.

I can only thank you for taking the time to read it at all Nev... my dad left when the 5 of us were young. Seems to be a pattern in my family. Strangely and happily both parents went on to marry life long partners. 🧡
