Poem -

A Hand Full of Ashes

Is this for real, I asked myself
and in my sorrow,
despaired both long and hard
because I knew it was ..
Yet still, the gulls,
gargoyles and most of the girls
collectively despised
and frowned down upon me ..
So I bubble wrap
my day and manufacture one
of those false smiles,
that you were most famous for ..
But the wind got
there first and blew them away,
long before it caught
like a fire, in the draught of my
late father’s house ..

Topic: Misery! This is miserably beautiful, Neville. One wants to jump on the page (with the risk of breaking a leg) just to give you a hug. Does it say something?

Being Me

I think we all bubble wrap ourselves to varying degrees. If what they say is true, that to err is to be human, then, to self doubt is to be an intelligent human.

This is very well written (well of course it is — you're a fabulous writer) and lines like
the gulls,
gargoyles and most of the girls
collectively despised
and frowned down upon me ..

AND
the last few lines allude to something very cold and hard as stone.

Hugs ... and more hugs xx
