Poem -

red moon rising

I measure memory
by kiss and fragrance –

a cherry tree
where we sat and watched
a full moon rising over the hills
like a symphony in red
and
penny royal  filled our lungs,
calling us …

(our cat Rosabel eases unto my lap
to sleep/dreamtime).

This was when we (heart over head/
feet by rooting)
found impossible speed
to cross the singularity
into universe, newborn,
borne by night.

Towards sunrise,
many a mile we wandered
through life, rebuilding ruins
to flourish by kiss and weaving
stars into pathways.

Spent now,
we still wander hand by heart,
yet see day’s morning come into being,
breathless by birdsong…

(Rosabel, while twitching a new dream
alive, brings time into this world)

Thank you, it is actually a merger of two memories of the Provence, in the early nineties when my late mother in law was still alive and we were staying at her house. Those years got the wife and me going so that we escaped from the black hole we were living in back then🕳️ I got that across🤗 great, hanx again

John, what a beautiful start…”I measure memory by kiss and fragrance”.
I just had to keep reading. And you still wander hand by heart? I love this!
Stay well lovebirds. Greetings from
Bernadete

Hi, Bernadete, thank you for your kind wishes. It is a mix of two memories of the late 80's/eurly 90's when my late mother in law still hired a house in the Provence (France) the cherry tree/moon is one and the penny royal another... the last one was trying to find the herb for a herbal infusion in the dark, purely by fragrance (we knew where  we needed to be and we were successfull). And yes, after 38 years we still regularly walk hand in hand, after all, we've only been married for 38 years and we weathered many storms from the outside world... (That's an advantage of having divorced parents - you know what not to do...) You stay well too

I got goosebumps I'm a true fan of romantic poems and this one is a stunner, such glorious imagery I could see the moon rising from the hill. Beautiful. 🌹
