Portrait of An Old Jug and Bowl

The original cream porcelain slip
was initially thrown
around seventeen fifty and fired
by all account maybe
five whole years later in a small
almost forgotten lost
mountain village wood fuelled kiln ..
Today, both the jug
and bowl maintain near perfect
form and integrity
just as they did during the entire
manufacturing process ..
Yet still they showcase the beauty
of blue bamboo shoots
all set against a backdrop of three
gold leaf cranes in flight
and a shower of chrysanthemum
now resting comfortably
upon the white veined black marble
flagstones of my recently
renovated ensuite bathroom floor ..

Hello Nev...
Sounds very beautiful indeed!
They haven't made things like they used to in a long time...
Maybe, education really is over rated...
There were a lot of illiterates back then too...
It's just a lot of Mystery anymore...
Great write!
Thank you for sharing...

Only you could make a whole and exquisite poem about a jug and bowl Nev... though I suspect these items are very much loved and comforting. You should have put a pic up... I would of liked to see the beauty you describe x
Bless you Marion .. Your wish is my command just remember my name is Nev & not David Baily .. x
Lol...thankyou. It is indeed a beautiful thing. I don't want to romantice the lack of modern amenities but I bet it was far more satisfying to swill your face from such items of a morning that the old common tap. Beautiful x
