Quagmire

In unending ways we still gather
Still make the attempt to unite
The things that divide us also
Define us
It is hell to have to choose
When the nursery rhymes became thesaurus
And a nobel prize a price list
I felt it was too much to figure out
Standing by the beach this night
I let the ocean foam and swell
Around my delighted feet to
Be surprised by the salty sand
I want to run and frolic
Go body surfing and watch waves
Listening to there endless sound
I can continue on you see
Because it puts focus and clarity
Into all this insanity.

This, to me, reads like a poem about the contrast between the simple enjoyment of nature which the writer craves, this being contrasted with the problems thrown up by what is happening beyond the writer's small circle of enjoyment. And these problems represent the quagmire of the title. Love the lines about the nursery rhymes and the Nobel prize.
Thank you Bernie. It is nice to have a place to put our work out there and keep working on what we do
You are very welcome Susan. Yes it is nice I agree.
