BREATHING COURAGE

I have tasted of pains torment
It's bittersweetness, upon my breath
Engaged in mortal combat
This fight, unto the death
Just when I thought I couldn't go on
And feared that pain had won the war
You reached into the depths of me
And strengthened the inner core

To taste the sweetness of Your grace
My strength rose up from the ashes
My fear left without a trace
I have tasted of pains torment
Battled affliction with all my might
But I will not go softly
Into that dark, uncertain night
I have known of pain and suffering
At times, I prayed for it to end
But with it, I've known of tenderness
Your love and peace that transcends
