Conversation with a street lamp

One foggy night, filled with silence, I sat comfortably by the fire, readingΒ stories of my own conscious desires.Β
Β
Suddenly a tap upon my door, an odd sound, like someone wearing metal gloves, tap tap, twice more against my wooden door
Β
Cautiously I opened my door. Positioned precariously within a cluster of frayed wires, a street lamp sat, as if torn from nest, this street lamp, disrupting my rest.Β
Β
I looked up to see a fading Amber glow, a faceless head hanging low, shedding tear drops of molten tungsten like a hail of arching snow.
It spoke with the sound of twisting steel, mimicking words of human speech.Β
Β
He said he was sad, cold and unsure,Β fearful and worried of what he just saw. I invited him in, wiped the rain from his steel skin, offered to change out his flickering light with a set of LEDs to brighten up his night.Β
Β
Grateful of my hospitality he began to share his story with me...Β
Β
I was made to look down, that's my position, shinning my dim light every night. My photo cell waits patiently for the sun to set, allowing current to flow and every night I watch humans come and go.Β
Β
On this night I watched the trees swaying gently in the winter breeze, the slimmest tree, the one facing the lane began to shake violently, our heads turned and our light did shine to see it split, revealing another world.Β
Β
An explosion of an alternate dimension revealed itself, a wormhole that diagnosed the earth as its next place of birth. Concrete and steel is all I could see but I could hear screams, human screams like I've never heard before.Β
Β
I felt it was my duty to inform your kind and you seemed an obvious choice. Your light does shine and I fear in the future this will be a crime.Β Β
Β
Darkness is coming Gerard, you must flee.Β
Β
I woke up, put on my jacket and went outside to see the street lamp from my dreams. It stood firmly within the ground, shinning light upon my frown.Β
Β
Im leaving town.Β

You nailed the imagery superbly here... Boy I'mΒ not sure if I would like to meet this streetlight in a dark alley. Though I might be very enlightened lol
Wonderful read. Aren't dreams just weird??
Very weird, I've had some mad dreams, I also have lucid dreams that have frightened the bajesus out of me.
Thanks for reading.
