Farming the Desert

            I was cleaning out my closet and I found a lot of baby car seats.  I realized there was a lot of plastic in them.  I thought I could pile them up and melt them down into cubes.  I did not have any land to put them on.

            While I was on craigslist looking for other items I came across land for sale.  The land was in Arizona I believe.  It was for sale for $6,000 per 40 acres.  Wow, I thought that is cheap land.  Later I realized the bulky plastic car seats should go to the desert land. 

            I had always wondered if desert land was farmable.  Maybe farming it in a different way was possible.  It is a usable space.  When I used to think about the shortage of water in Las Vegas I always thought; why don’t they just use ocean water?

            They could use plastic to build a large pipeline from the ocean extracting the salt from the water as it goes.  Surely there is a way to boil or super freeze the salt from the water.  My pool filter can make fresh water salty.  It uses an electric metallic reaction.  We can reverse this and apply it to salt water.  Make a pipeline with electric metallic plates to remove the salt.

            All of the recycling should be brought to the desert.  Solar and even turbines in the water pipe can pipe the ocean water to the recycling factories.  The factories could be powered by steam from the ocean water and solar from the sun.  The run off could flow into straight troughs in the desert covered by clear plastic buildings.  The buildings can be built from the recycled plastic. 

            We could farm using ocean water in buildings in the desert built by recycled plastic.  What a wonderful world.  We have the correct technology for many noble endeavors.  We just have to dare to put them together.
