Poem -

the trees did not mind

We ate days wrapped
Round lollipops
Wore sand speckled skin
Rode salt coloured waves
Sending splashes to space
We stole daisy chain smiles
As we reached sky on swings
And marched with the danceĀ
bands, then
Threw balls at things
We owned trees for our castles
The trees did not mind
Now, when I peek back
I think childhood too kind

Last lines for me.
Is it ever, what's weird is the adults know it not to last forever and yet, they let us have it.Ā

Wow, the whimsy and mild melancholy in this hit me hard. Absolutely beautiful. I feel like someone should paint a mural to go with this.Ā
