ONE MORE STEP TO CLIMB

ONE MORE STEP TO CLIMB

The struggles continue between his faith
And self-indulgence,
As the fight for his soul escalates.

Trapped within glass walls, his soul sighs
After his praise and worship of God on high.

He teaches the Word with persuasion and power,
But this display lasts only on Sunday morning’s Bible hour.

As soon as the church doors are securely closed,
He finds himself waiting at the bar doors.

Like a massage in a bottle, his lips read its taste,
Alcohol is the message that his cravings embrace.

In his world of confinement, his faith quietly abides,
As sins restrict his soul from the other side.

He knows that unwavering faith sets the spirit free,
But his past pursues him and his inner peace.

In the confines of his glass cocoon,
He finds strength, a beacon in the gloom,
So he cries out from the depths of his solitude,
For freedom of that glass cocoon.

Hello Wilford...

I've seen it from the Parishioners but, not the Preacher....

Behind closed doors?

I've seen Priests and Bishops alike who have Judged and claimed to be perfect...

Weird they never show up again...

The Stories were all the same...

They were sent to a new home...

All within a week...

As it should be done?

End of discussion...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...

Hello Sparrowsong.
I totally agree with you that some people pretend to be above the fray…
Deceiving many.
‘My sins, I confess. My faults I share with my friends. Hoping that maybe,
an encouraging word might help me overcome.
For we all fall short of perfection.
I am grateful for your openness and compassion for others.
Thank you.
