The Intricate Fabrics of Thoughts

The Intricate Fabrics of Thoughts

A great array of thoughts caught in a vortex
   with a fast, untidy pace,
   patterns floating on a whirlpool,
a behaviour I do not comprehend
   and sometimes do not control.

Today I’ll take care of my thoughts
   like seeds under the sunlight
and try to ease the conflict
between the heart and the mind.

   I am what I think,
   at the surface
or in the depths of the unknown
and the intricate fabrics of thoughts
   are threads woven
   and wrapped around the soul.

My thoughts are alone in silence
   in haste they become sound,
I’ll be careful what I think and say,
as threads can make or break
   --the fragility of every soul.

Well thought out essay on what makes us tick. Yup, just cause we think it doesn’t mean we need to say it. Nice write B.

I am drawn to one line in your poem. "I am what I think." Whether intentional or not this is a nice play on Descartes who of course said "I think therefore I am."
I think we all suffer from what you describe in your poem. Those pesky thoughts that career through our head like a gang of teenagers. Now maybe they don't see the light of day but they remain sometimes as recurring thoughts that may taunt. They become like a trapped pressure cooker that will need releasing. Which is where writing comes in.

I say our thoughts & words are
like threads which can make a beautiful garment or can simply break. If we take care of our thoughts & words we don’t hurt others (and ourselves).
Good thoughts and good words
or choose silence. Complex yet simple as that.
Dear Poet, I think you know by now that I always appreciate you taking the time to read, analyse then sending it back to us. I’ve said it before and will repeat: You, Bernie, have a deep love for poetry and you become our wonderful Critic. B
P.S. Very insightful what you say here.

Thank you Bernadette. And for being so tolerant of my sometimes fumbling attempts to interpret what has been written. I do have a deep love for poetry, thank you for saying that, but not always a deep enough understanding.
Cheers. B.
