Heard Your Words

Heard Your Words
By D.C. O’Rourke
I walked alone where the woods grew deep,
The dusk had come, and the shadows crept,
And in the quiet, my thoughts did keep
The echo of words I had never wept.
You spoke, I heard, but could not say
What silence meant in your soft tone;
Your voice was soft like the end of day,
A weight I carried, but not my own.
The trees leaned in, as if to hear
The things unspoken, the thoughts unbound;
The wind, it whispered, cold and clear,
Of promises broken, lost and found.
And so I walked with your voice in mind,
The path behind me, no longer known—
The road ahead, though I did not find,
Was where I went, and went alone.
For words, once said, are not so kind,
They linger like dusk on an open stone.
I heard your words, and now, resigned,
I walk the woods, and I walk alone.

Excellent little story, Denny.
Frankly, quite brilliant.

My interpretation of this is rumination.
Very painfulÂ
