1421
The Bengali New Year (Noboborsho; 'nobo' being new, 'borsho' meaning year) or 'Poila Boishakh' as it is called, falls on the 1st day ('poila') of the first month ('Boishakh') in the Bengali calendar.
In India, it is celebrated by Bengalis, and worldwide, wherever the Bengali diaspora has settled.
The traditional greeting being, 'Shubho Noboborsho', (blessed new year).
As of 15th April, 2014, starts the Bengali year of 1421.
The new year dawns
A sliver of light
Tempts the silhouette
To move from the shadow
Of yesterday
The never-ending cycle
Of time
Of birth
Of death
Of rebirth
For there is just one way
In life
In time
The way forward
'Shubho Noboborsho'. God bless, now and always.
