“15”

“15”

Oh our precious Angel Nico, today you’d have turned fifteen;

We wish you could blow out all the candles, on your birthday cake with ice cream!

We still remember your very first one, we were in the Garden State;

Your Mommy and your Daddy, with their beloved year old mate!

We left Florida on a Monday, four days before you’d turn one;

You really hated traveling; you thought it was just no fun!

You refused to make a potty, at rest areas we would stop;

We called your trusted Doctor, for our concerns were over the top!

He told us not to worry, oft times he’d heard of this;

You were just a little traumatized, but eventually would take a piss!

You held on for almost ten hours, till we stopped and got a room;

Then at last you let it happen, we could hear our hearts vroom!

I figured out the problem, and fixed it the next day;

You didn’t like riding in the back seat, you were way too far away!

So I built a place with luggage; that you could ride up high right next to me;

With your chin upon my shoulder, you were happy as could be!

This trip was not all pleasure, for business we had do;

But we tied it in with your first Birthday, a day we’d honor you!

The third day we were in Cincinnati, to see our friends and make a deal;

Wednesday night, we stopped in Columbus, and rested with a great hot meal!

On Thursday morn, we drove to Cleveland, and a large gallery took you in;

We did some deals with its owner, as you fun there did begin!

For she hard large rooms with lots of hardwood, that you ran from end to end;

Then it was time to say goodbye to her, you kissed her as down she bent!

That afternoon we stopped in Pittsburgh, to make a deal or two;

Our client and his sisters, were totally into you!

They gave you lots of good treats, and kisses on your face;

Again you ran so freely, from room to room you’d race!

That night we stayed in the mountains, close to Altoona in PA;

I brought in a good dinner, and took you for long walks where you played!

We left our room in the wee hours, but first we gave you lots of love;

For it was Friday, your first Birthday, our Angel from above!

We drove then for three hours, to the Philadelphia town;

We did lots of business in two galleries, where you also ran around!

Then it came time to quit our working, and celebrate your birth;

With smiles and adulation, all filled with joyous mirth!

Our first stop was a Petco; we bought a cookie and a toy;

The first was a doggie Birthday cake, made special for our boy!

The second was your present, that squeaked and said “hello”;

You finally had a traveling mate, and carried it where e’er you’d go!

We crossed into the Garden State, just after one o’clock;

Daddy knew a very special motel, where the fun would always rock!

So we got a room and stayed there, with our Birthday boy so true;

Daddy brought in a four star dinner, and we sang “Happy Birthday, we love you”!

The next day we got to Boston, and visited kin and friends;

Everywhere that we chose to take you, much love your way they’d send!

For you were a unique puppy, and everyone could feel;

That this doggie sent from Heaven, was truly the “real deal”!

These blessed memories from fourteen years ago, make Mommy and Daddy need to cry;

For we’d give every asset in our possession, to have you by our sides!

But you had to leave us in the winter, February, twenty fifteen;

But today you’ll be right back with us, in visions we will see!

hi  Larry lovely poem to say happy birthday
to little Nico this is one  from me

Happy 15TH Birthday dear little Nico
up there with your angel pals
I hope your having a party,
but don`t go sniffing around no gals
Your mom and dad are missing you
but don`t worry of them, we will take care
You see all of us here at Cosmo know you now
and memories of you, with them we share
Thing is they love you as  a son
and the loss of you they did take bad
They worshiped the ground you walked on,
and now your gone ,it makes them sad
But i know your looking down on them
telling them you love and miss them so
you go enjoy your doggie party in heaven Nico
with a happy birthday, from your pals here too, at Cosmo

Thinking about you both today
hugs and love Debs xox

Hi Dear Debs,

As we read each line of your beautiful tribute to our beloved Nico, our tears multiplied.  You have no idea how deeply you have touched us, with your heartfelt understanding into the pain we are suffering today!  Where in the world does one find such treasured friendships, as those we have formed on Cosmo.  You know that we love you dearly and are honored to call you our cherished friend.

With Love From Us Both,

Linda and Larry

hey, Larry, this is superb writing, my friend, it is a little sad only because I know how it ends, yet there is so much joy in the memories, it is far from sad.... I've never had a dog of my own, but as a boy in Trinidad we all had one, he got into a lot of fights and died tragically, but did leave great memories, you brought back a few, thanks for that and it was fun to read your memorial story, cheers man...liked this a lot

Hi Christopher,

Thank you so much for your beautiful, heartwarming words.  It is always an honor when somebody reads the poems I write about Nico, and responds in such a lovely manner.  To think that people from all over the world are speaking his name makes me cry.  Thanks, again, my Brother Poet.

Peace and Love,
