Poem -

Death

Death

Preserve your body
For old age
Try to stem the rot
But always remember
Life starts at year dot

Each second precious
Every person unique
Some are optimistic
Seeing only sunshine
In a world that is bleak

It isn't about a life after retirement
Nor about how much you earn
The only difference money can make
Is a fancy send off
Or an expensive urn

Don't judge others
By how brightly their candle burns
Just remember that tomorrow
You could be food for the worms

For death comes unannounced
Unassuming
With a bitter metallic taste
Smothering light unbiased
With it's hollow embrace

Thank you John, likewise. This write is tragically inspired by the death of someone I know.

Mate, my apologies, as my enthusiastic compliments to this, as a piece of writing, didn't reflect, or fully contemplate it's personal content. That said, I still stand by what I said, but would like to add that these are also wise words well said! ☺

I fancy death, I look forward to it and I will embrace death with open arms. It makes me happy to know I will some day die because who would want to live forever. Excellent poem Syd.

Hi Gerard, just make sure you spend your time wisely and throw caution to the wind is my personal advice. I wouldn't necessarily take my advice though, it's just my personal opinion. Glad you enjoyed the poem.

Take care  - Syd

Dear Syd,

On this "Roller Coaster" called life
We speed up and down adversitie's hills
Until one day, our ride is over
And our bodies, six feet of earth then fill

So sorry for your loss, Syd.

Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
