3am Call

3am Call

3 am I awoke to a call disorientated I answered It was Helen Calling from Hospital she was hysterical never had heard her like that before
Get the car the wheelchair get me out I'm dying they're stood around my bed talking about me I'm dying get me outΒ  they know, get the car, Johnny, quickly take me home
Then the phone went dead heard nothing more
When I saw her the next day she could remember nothing
but three-day later the doctors called me In to tell me they could do no for her so asked If they would let go gently and if I could stay In the Hospital and care for her as done in the years we were together when helping the nurses I was holding her she was slowly shutting down she kept apologising then she looked at me with those beautiful eyes Johnny I can't breath she said I just kept saying It's Ok darling you'll be fine don't worry darling, shortly after that Helen told me she was giving up when asked why she simply replied I can't do this anymore the poor girl had no fight left In her but she was brave to the end my hero Helen, I'm crying as I write this on my phone today for Helen.
