8 Reasons To Never Leave Your Lighter In The Rain

1.) Storms form from hot air mixing with cold air, and for we are like fire and water,
I'm sorry for the thunder that hangs over your head, but tell me why the holes in my
umbrella are the only glimpses I get at my grey skies. It's only a fraction of the storm
but I''m drenched and chilled to the bone, it's no wonder you left me alone.
 
2.) They tried to tell us that opposites attract but water contradicts my combustions,
so you tried to become an ember and used me as kindling to become a light in the dark,
you grew from a candle flame to something impressive. Something I couldn't tame.

3.) It was like looking in a mirror at the heavenly blaze but of course,
 we cannot fight fire with fire without burning down the bridges
needed in order to create the distance between fire...
and water.

4.) And this is one for all things gone unsaid, like
maybe we need some distance, for
I want to love the rain but you sizzle at my touch, and
I fear that once you're in the air,
you'll be lost forever, all at my cost.

5.) So instead we dance a beautiful tango of a lifelong feud,
you looking like the crystal tears of the gods and me, 
looking at you,
sputtering into a diminishing sunset,
my light dimming to a reflection off of you,
like pale moonlight on a pond, 
I only wanted us to become one. 

6.) Realizing that the moon is nothing without the sun,
I recommend playing dead among the stars, 
so one day you can explode into the nova of light you've always wanted to be. 

7.) Sure you'll be lost in translation but remember,
"with the stars in our blood, that's constellation"

8.) And this is why I've always been jealous of the clouds,
for they can kiss the night sky so easily,
gone with the wind, 
I guess I need to remember that even the biggest of flames can be put out.
