A Bridge To Far

A Bridge To Far

Helen and I through lack sleep and pain she suffered
Sometimes we did
have arguments of
which I'm now ashamed of
On one particular occasion, something I'm not proud of I stormed out the house with no Intentions of ever
Coming back something I'm very
ashamed to admit
I walked 2 miles to a bridge that crossed over the A1 It was pitch black and bitterly cold there I climbed over the rail
with feet perched on a thin ledge hands behind me holding on to the rail there loking down watching lorries and car passing undernieth edging along the bridge to try find the best place to fall and end It all, I just couldn't find a place
without the danger of Injuring Innocent people that I would not do
It then I heard a voice that of my best mate Billy who had Killed himself some 30 years previous on a bridge just like the one I was now perched on could have been the
same bridge he had died because he couldn't live without
his long time girlfriend he said this was not my time go home back to your wife it not to late
It was bitterly cold took me hours to walk home but Helen didn't even no l'd been gone she just said good you're there I need the loo
