A Coward and the Innocents

A Coward and the Innocents

A Coward and the Innocents

The coward crossed the playground to the school
His twisted mind determined to break every rule
Of decency, love and peace in Dunblane,
This cursed, pathetic man; Hamilton by name.

In a place for primary age children there
He sprayed random shots without a care,
Of the sick, sad outcome of his goals
To slaughter and maim those sweet young souls,
Who had full lives in front of them to live
And whole generations of love to give.
Now stolen by this inadequate man's worst
Act, that ensures he is forever cursed!

Prevented from his vile intent on young child's
His perverted mind was now lost in wilds
Of deserts, swamps and putrid sewers,
His sick revenge as parents hearts he skewers.
For destruction of the innocents he seeks
So in a school gym, cowardly havoc he wreaks,
With four loaded pistols he guns down all
That have the tragic misfortune of his gall.

Thus because of him many children now lay
Bloodied and dead on that foulest day,
For the innocent lives of seventeen were taken
By this twisted madman now always forsaken.
On that unlucky thirteenth March in 96
When for his contemptible end he picks
Out sixteen babes and a brave adult,
Removed from life by his bullets bolt.

So now twenty five years on we look back in pain
With no sure rhyme or reason for his gain,
Of an accursed name reviled forever
Whilst his blessed victims lie in love together.
