A Darkened Soul

She sits and waits, for the pain to stop
Crawls to her room, and locks the door
The silence is deafening, her heart is loud
She makes no move, she makes no sound
The tears they dry, the ache goes away
The wounds they heal, and the bruises fade
The scars they stay, and show the shame
For a love you have, and can not escape
She dared to care, and tried to change
Said the wrong thing, and made his day
His fists they fly, and open hands
What can she do, is this gods plan?
The doors they slam, the windows they shake
The car it screeches, as he takes off the brake
Broken boned, and bloodied all round
She tries to rise, and stand her ground
Head held high, she limps to the phone
Dials a number, and cries for help
She lies and waits, for help to arrive
Wondering how the hell, she is still alive
Holding her stomach, her heart it breaks
For she knows its over, he won again
The love she bore, that was growing inside
Never had a chance, and will never survive
I'm sorry my god, I'm sorry my child
I'm sorry for wanting to love a life
He took the life, that made her wholeÂ
And forever she will live, with a darkened soul
