A FATHER'S SON

Fifty two years of marriage during which I was made with care 
I came to this world like my dad with little hair 
Dad was always there to encourage and console 
Telling me to work hard was an important role 

The joys of cricket and football were down to Dad
He always provided well for his little lad 
He cared for his wife during her cancer years 
The love and compassion he showed brought me to tears 

Now Dad has been taken to a higher plane 
Our loss on earth is heaven's gain 
Your eighty eight years is now over and done 
I am proud to be my father's son
