A Flower In The Attic

I happed upon a rose one day, pressed deep within a book;
In the middle of a diary, found in my attics’ nook!
It’d been written many years ago, by my Mother, long since passed;
I opened it to read her words, from so long ago her past!
I started first near the wilted rose, it told a lovely tale;
She said she’d met a special man, the epitome of a male!
She’d had so many at her door, seeking of her love;
But this man was the first in line, sent down from stars above!
They pledged their hearts in record time; their souls had found their mates;
And just like me, they knew it quick, it took not many dates!
For almost forty years they loved, until my Father passed;
And after that she slept alone, his love would be her last!
As tears rolled down, I closed the book; I’d learned so much of her;
So many things she’d never told to me, they never had occurred!
I found a rose in the attics’ store, so much then did I glom;
I learned her precious secrets all, the secrets of my Mom!
