Dear Ani,

Today's your big day,
your moment to shine.
I hope you didn't forget the old,
the new,
and the blue.
Your something borrowed
will be waiting for you
at the end of the aisle.
I'm sorry I didn't get to tell you in time,
I'm sad to say
I'm not sure you'll ever find out
(unless the hard way.)
Remember to keep your chin up,
and straighten out your veil.
I'm sure you'll look lovely.
It feels strange writing to you,
the girl whose ring
was originally promised to me.
I don't regret the chain of events,
though I do admit I still feel calloused.
But it is your lover,
your groom,
for which my hatred lies.
You're just the girl
who found herself in the middle
of all of his wreckage.
I've never been more glad
to not be in someone's place.

Do not think I write out of envy,
or with the intention of sabotage.
I can't say I hope you marry
into such tumultuous lies,
but I have no wish
to be in your position.
I write to you
because if I were in your veil and dress,
I would want you to write to me.
The truth is that your lover
will always love another,
even through marital bliss.
He clearly learned well from his father,
but so did I
       (and he is fluent in vengeance)

              are simply my version.)
Karma may be on its way
to your lover's bedside,
but one thing you should know about me
is I've never able to resist
the taste of it myself
(call it cathartic.)
I hope you know
he asked for your hand so quickly
to rush your consummation.
So very motivated
by his primal side,
if my other letters were not
evidence of that enough.
What an excellent presentation of intimacy,
wouldn't you agree?
As far as wishes
for a loving marriage go,
I'm afraid mine is a little lack-lustre.
I hope one day these poems find you,
and I hope you don't hate me
when you're finished reading.
