A LOVE DEVINE

A LOVE DEVINE

In the light of the sun, our love blossomed
Kisses like woven petals fell from your lips
How sweet the fragrance of love I breathe
As I lay in the tenderness of your arms.

But love lingers for a moment
Then sail away on the wings of time as the eye blinks
And which one of us shall lie in the stillness of sleep
Leaving the other to carry the wounds of a grieving heart
When the storm clouds come.

I forbid the clouds, I despise the clouds
And it's shadow of death
Yet I give my heart to love, yes, I give my soul to you
If only for a day or a fleeting moment
I will sit at your feet until the night falls.

Wilford Barker.
