A Lover’s Blood

A Lover’s Blood

When I woke

I was swimming in a pool of my own blood,

unbothered I fill my mouth and spit it out like a fountain.
it’s hard being enlightened
suck my soul through a siphon
he only want her when she’s on the light end
warm and metallic
just dive in
when I’m manic skating the streets
know I’m stylin’
he said I cut too deep and am always wildin’
he was an artist stuck shoveling concrete
committing crimes, robbing you blind to make ends meet
i held your hand in the inferno
i  carried your sin and it burned me so
you called your grandma, “I found me a good girl.”
does a good girl love a man who pulled the trigger?
does a good girl love a man who cheats and steals?
does a good girl love a man who loves his pills?
your blood was dripping everywhere
i swam so deep in you I’d barely come up for air
lost my sanity trying to protect a criminal, he don’t even care
we needed to burn those sheets
i was unaware
so I took off to Louisiana
it was there that my burdens were easier to bear
NoLaws and a schizophrenic angel team, jazz music, Vienna sausage, street art
made the day gleam
flash forward a year
i think I’m starting to see the grand scheme
had to break me to make me
i let you carve a light house into my skin
so just to fucking clarify
the next time I trust I’ll verify
you said you needed me
so I made the trip
i only got whiplash when I took the hit
a semi truck collision had me thinking I’d met my end
thought I’d die and I couldn’t cry
couldn’t even pretend
but times gone by
don’t ask me why you’re apart of my story now
i fled our house
i stormed the desert
i scraped my knees
i bruised my elbows
i swam in your hell before I found mine
God knows
sometimes I wish you could see
how I made it out and I did it for me
now they say I glow
sometimes I wish you could see

Dark?

….wrong.

absolutely beautiful. Rich with salt water flavors (the taste of your own blood) and red velvet drapes….

absolutely stunning to walk beside the author in/with. Thank you for being here to share this. Certain beats the alternative of your obituary. ;)
