Poem -

A MOTHER AND HER SON

Here I am sitting amongst the ruins of the land
On my knee is my son gently holding my hand
No more tears are left to fall down our faces
Shops and houses are now just empty spaces

My son looks to me looking for a solution
Kisses on his cheek is my only contribution
Where do we go from here I think to myself
Have to protect my son and look after my health

The reminders of war are both harsh and stark
Bullets and bombs both leave a devastating mark
This is just one tale of a worried mother and son
Many more like her before any war is done
