A Mother Like You...

I'm sure I put you through hell, during stages of my life,
You were always there for help, you never chose to run or hide,
I'm sure I kept you up late at night, with worrying thoughts,
You were always there to love me, even though at times we fought.
Mother can you hear me?
I wish to hold your hand, if it's only to cross the road,
Mother can you hear me?
Now, as a parent I understand, sometimes I too feel alone,
Mother can you hear me?
All these questions are so heavy, can you please take the load?
Now I'm a mother,
For my son's, I'm so proud,
Even if, I'm half the woman you were,
I know with you looking down,
With your love, I'll get through...
In your last days, I wished for you to stay, I miss so much, washing your face,
Time was running out, I prayed at night, that when you went, you left with grace,
Days I visited and felt all alone, I'm was so grateful for that hug and a smiling face,
Sometimes I took this for granted, I still cherished, even though now, I live in pain.
I know, you always put your daughter's first, this is the heart you put in me,
The sacrifices you made, your love life was hurt, you said with us, you were free,
Now I'm a grown woman, the challenges come thick and fast,
Sometimes when I search for answers, I still look at your photograph.
Now I'm a mother,
For my son's, I'm so proud,
Even if, I'm half the woman you were,
I know with you looking down,
With your love, I'll get through...
I remember the days you spoke to me, the days of being all that you were,
All childlike, I thought, never in the world will I have children mam, so gross,
Now in my 50's, one son still living with me and another leaving home,
Tears of sadness, a heart full of hope, I stand here, laying this rose.
I lay this rose,
As you were my muse,
I lay this rose,
Hoping,
I'll be a mother like you...

Hola Tony! Thanks for your comments sir! I have to say, it's not about my mother, it's an observation of a poetic friend/mother going through a hard time at the minute, I'm glad I brought that personal touch and the emotion, for you to believe in it so, some parent relationships can be quite up and down, it's sometimes a hard life brother, thanks for sharing sir! You're one true gentleman! P.s contrary to my older looks I'm only 37 ?? even though the grey hair tells a different story ?? ☮&? poet brother! Hope you and yours are doing well ???????
