A MOTHER’S HEART

A MOTHER’S HEART

Even before the rooster yawns
And the dew is wiped away
From the face of the grass
You rise from sleep to face the day

While the children occupy their warm beds
Positioned like forensic sketches
And their pillows once hugged in tenderness
Now kiss the cold floor after a turbulent night
You rise from sleep to face the day

Driven by love and compassion
You brave the elements without care
Walking among wolves and serpents without fear
To provide for your children in every possible way
You will rise from sleep to face the day

And when the sun has seen all there is to see
Returning to its place of obscurity
Your tired feet with all their aches and pains
Grace the steps as you clutch those splintered rails

To the night you surrender for a few hours of sleep
After you have washed those tiny feet
And before the rooster yawns again
You rise from sleep to face the day.

A tribute to Sandra my love.

Today you sang a love song to
Sandra’s heart. Very nice, Wilford.

Thank you Bernadete.
Sandra is a very special person. Up every morning at 4 am.
Cooking and preparing her children's uniforms for school.
All this before she gets ready to head off to work as a Headmistress.
In the word of women today, Sandra is a gem.
Home, work, church. She is driven by the love for others happiness.
I feel blessed to have met her.
