So long you have been out at sea 
I wonder if you will remember me 
It was me who waved you goodbye at the quay
The loneliness and emptiness then I could not foresee 

After four years away you return once more 
Being a sailors wife is hard that's for sure 
I wonder what sailors go to sea for
However so pleased that you are back home safe and secure
