A SINNER CAME TO DINNER

Throughout his life he was branded a sinnerĀ
Why then should this family invite him to dinnerĀ
He was called a thief and a small time crookĀ
Surely this kind family were pushing their luck

The head of the family was a generous manĀ
Always did his best whenever he possibly canĀ
His wife of five years also did the very sameĀ
Considered the bad in people a terrible shameĀ

The children of this family were brought up well
No need for them to behave naughty and rebelĀ
With open arms they all welcomed this bad bloke
Didn't object one bit when he started to smoke

The bad man opened up to this family of fourĀ
Told them all the bad things he'd done and more
He thanked them kindly and left by the back door
Feeling guilty of his past crimes I know for sure
