A Soldier In A Box

Flames fly inside
The burning fireplace
As I wait for you here
But you're in a different state

Mother asks me
What I want for a gift
But I don't want
Any of this

I want a soldier
In a box
No toys, no trees
Just him and me

Last night
I turned off
All the lights
Imagining your face
And the flames have died down
In the fireplace

By now
I wonder
What this December
Will be like if I don't have
You

I don't need toys
I don't need socks
I just wanna see
My daddy
A soldier in a box

When I wake up
I want, what every boy
Wants
His father's love

So Christmas morning
I hope to see
My daddy
A soldier in a box
No toys
Or socks
Only
A soldier in a box
