A spark stumbling in the dark

I have suffered at realities of my own making and the Lord showed me mercy.

I have suffered at the atrocities of others doing and the Lord showed me compassion.

I have suffered by a world drowning in sin and soaking in, and the Lord showed me grace.

He knows me. He knows who I am in him.
He knows my heart, every anchor, every whim

I have defended the weak with a kindness that isn’t nice
Sometimes I should have thought about it twice

Even those made righteous trip
But they rise again in Messiah’s grip

As the prophet Micah confidently declared:

“Rejoice not over me, O my enemy;
    when I fall, I shall rise;
when I sit in darkness,
    the Lord will be a light to me.

I will bear the indignation of the Lord
    because I have sinned against him,
until he pleads my cause
    and executes judgment for me.
He will bring me out to the light;
    I shall look upon his vindication.”
