A Thousand Birds

A Thousand Birds

I wrote your name in the sky last night

And then watched a thousand birds take flight

They formed the shape of a heart around your name

It was an amazing sight

A thousand birds led by a single dove

Symbols of love

But in the morning light I ask myself

"How much of this really happened?"

In truth, it was none of the above

And thinking about it, a dove is a symbol of peace not love

I guess I was trying to be too clever

You say "That ruins this poem to some extent"

I say "Whatever..."
