A Thousand Years

A Thousand Years

I found you once in a time before, in a glinting moment, my heart adored.
I found you and you found me, in total and utter ecstasy.
Our minds both melded quick and fast, I thought this love was built to last.
But your head and heart lay somewhere else, and sadly I was left on the shelf.
Our two quick months both sadly flew, and I was left just pining you.
My days had fell into a place where I was left both dark and dazed.
Lost within my inner grim, with tears a rolling down my chin.
I found my sanctuary, sublime, within the bottle of sweet, sweet wine.
I drank and drank to find a way, to soothe my soul from such dismay.
Within the space of a few short years, I finally quenched my inner tears.
Sweet death had come to carry me, away from what was  killing me.
From up in heaven I gazed on you, for many years the time just flew.
Then I decided to search for you, to come back down, to find you true.
To find you, hold you, for you to be, with me, just me and only me.
If my true birth could match yours too, just coincide, near, close to you.
Our meeting then by fate or glance, could give me another beautiful chance.
For me to show you my truest me and hold you close in ecstacy.
But for many years I couldn't find, your beauty, your soul and wonderful mind.
So I just wandered upon this earth...praying for my next rebirth.
I had adventures, good and bad, but always ended feeling sad.
For you are the only, only one, who touched me deep within my bond.
But then one night you wandered in, into my life with such a grin.
I instantly felt you, my soul just knew, and I knew your soul could feel it too.
All the suffering and pain had gone, I knew I'd found my number one.
The girl I'd searched for a thousand years, the girl who'd caused me all these tears.
Had come to me, to show her glee, had come to me all shackles free.
And now she's here within my arms, I'll always make her smile with charm.
I'll always, always let her know, that without her id have no glow.
That without her, there is no me, cos she's the one who feeds my glee.
She's the one to quench my tears...the one I searched for a thousand years
