" A VIOLET, VIBRANT, TWIST "

" A VIOLET, VIBRANT, TWIST "

As the twist in the vibrant sounds
Of familiar threads
Coursed, through the rooms of familiar memories
Memories of music, moving through
The seventies and eighties
Suddenly congealed
And took me back
To the fumbling fingers
And the women who used to be
So damn important to me
So mesmerizing,
In their, oh so inappropriate attire
Like, the shining hope
Of what life may have to offer
May bless me with one day,
May stand up and take my breath away,
Leaving me writhing on the floor
And knocking on the door
To the room's vibrant twist,
The smell of sweat and beer
Leaving, a perfectly clear
Violet, vision
That a vibrant twist
From the old juke box
With the long-lasting smells from the dive bar
Could set a soul on fire
And bring a man to his knees
Deep within those memories
Of a vibrant, violet, twist
Born,
Of the music from days gone by
And the idea of remaining within
Those incredibly reflective recollections
That help me to recall the smile,
That first helped to create,
My passion for words and music
Which today,
I willingly refer to
As,
A vibrant,
Violet,
Twist...

Hey DEBS!!......yep! ~ you're right about the age thing........ we're both around 38~39 years old (smiles)....... but Ahhh the memories ~ is SO true...... music has a way of helping add to remembering the chronology of our life experiences.......I don't know about you..... but I know exactly where I was when I heard that John Lennon had been shot.......... which helps us when we reflect upon a life so beautiful....... this poem was written two weeks ago ....at a bar....... where I asked the bartender for a napkin to write on.... cuz......i felt out of place there...... but all these young people were listening to 80's music....... so rather than participate in the mating rituals of 20 to 25 year olds......I watched and reflected and scribbled this down on a napkin.........thanx for recognizin' sweet poetess!!..........thanx again for being you......... LOVE and ROCKETS!!.......Txo

A violet vibrant twist......ok it sounds really cool. Besides the rough and rowdy bar scene I picture the violet being the neons illuminating that dark toned atmosphere and the vibrant twists the sounds that you invite while you fill your head with relaxations of liquid mellow that really put a spice into the ear candy. I believe I may be spit balling, but I will tell you what I love about music today and I did not grow up in your era but have the most admiring respect for the great classic rock and love of the new wave....that it has blended so well as influence to the seceding generations.....love it. Really cool write T. I enjoy that you find such great inspiration from music through life because it does it for me too. Peace.

YES!! ~ Thanx DEVON!!...... you found my groove man!...... especially about the New Wave of music that blasted onto the scene in my 20's.......I didn't think you'd remember that term "New Wave"....... meant so much to so many back then ~ still does!!........ the neon lighting of the bar scene.... especially the violet underglow of the New Wave scene which was ever-present in clubs back then~ jammin' to bands like Kraftwerk with those lavender lights emanating from the DJ booth........ so cool that you have awareness of those days ......so psyched that you enjoyed this........ Love to you bro!!........ peace.......T xo

T I basically was raised on the 80s because my dad is a huge fan of new wave so I know quite a lot and the favorites include Depeche Mode my absolute favorite and I saw them in 2010 at the Borgatta in AC and they still Fn ROCK!!! Oingo Boingo, INXS, Roxy Music, another huge favorite Talking Heads, Midnight Oil and so many others so many to name and I know there is more can't remember off the top of my head. It is cool how some of those bands originated in yhe 70s but their music was so influential in the 80s. Well thought I talk your ear off and you would enjoy that, you can have it back now lol. Peace man.

Goosebumps, dude. For real. Those life-affirming jolts of memory and raw, electric fires of passion pulsate in my mind's eye so brightly when I read this piece. Its like you have totally mastered the art of being the projector, and animating your thoughts and emotions by way of your words, on the proverbial screen in my head. Almost like, for a moment, I lived and felt those exact feelings just by reading them as you wrote them. You, sir, are a master poet. There is really no other way to put it. Amazing work, brother. As always. :)

Thanx JAIME!!..... you have touched upon that which I consider one of my reasons for considering poetry such a challenging art form........ the ability to paint upon the minds eye of your reader....... to paint imagery as well as words that (in your own unique phrasing) convey the intent of even the most obscure of ideologies or philosophical considerations...... like the uniqueness you convey and I so much look forward to reading..........thanx so much for this brother!!......... Love to you and yours!!.........T xo

Hi Beasty,

Well done sweetie for a superbly well written piece that we can all relate to. I love the 60`s and 70`s music as I`m older than you and just adore the Beatles who in my world will never be surpassed because their lyrics are wonderful and the kids of today can learn a lot from their writing.

Well done Beasty Boy!
