A Walk Thereafter

A Walk Thereafter

In my time,
was just a man
victim of normality
functioning fast to fit right in,
In my time.....
asphalt streets
divided city blocks
lined fresh color'd as
black pressed tar,
where buildings rose
puncturing clouds
living a life working in the sky;
Millions being
what they were intended to be
the air polluted hard to breath,
In my time.

Feet trudge through brush and bush a
wild fight, what seemed long while
a smooth stroll down the sidewalk,
great sky scrapers abandon
as I have now began to feel
peering societies once great erected structures
what's left now but ancient giant dinosaur bones.
In my time...
steel horses galloped highways into big long
messes, they litter the way today
rotting with decay,
mother nature here has stolen this show
animals that fear nothing roam to and fro
while others scurry a'bout
seem less distressed seeing me as a threat
I appear no longer atop the food chain.
Cries for someone....someone like me
echoes nil in that voice for it too doesn't want to be lonely,
walking for miles with views of disaster
never walking this much
while in my time
cherishing the earth
pondering....end results of how this could have happened.
What remains homes, no homely feeling they give
thinking of surviving on the outside
hard adjustments to ways the ferral live,
thoughts only succumb
for places better to dwell,
how bout beach sand and sea surf..........
maybe, just maybe we were better off
extinct from this earth;

My time,
was in my time
and now in my head,
if not the
last of the last
I'd surely be dead,
of those millions intended to be
stripped away from the mighty eye,
just one, walks navigating the unfamiliar thereafter
reciting........survive!

Hi Devon Wow although i hope this is not
our future I would like to think of this write as imaginary. A possible Apocylypse
that we hope does`nt happen.Reading and thinking of it as imaginary though
is a different story for me. This is excellent i really am blown away by it.i have read it five times
the references to mother  nature taking back what she lost to man without fear
such great imaginary and the ending is superb.
A Great  Write for me i loved it !!
my best wishes Debs

My deepest wishes to you Debs thank you. This is a very possible outcome and I do believe the earth does not die but society eventually will. Man may be endangered who knows maybe extinct, but the earth will refresh itself as mother nature does what she does best. The ending was the hardest because I was unsure on how yo end it lol. As living beings we survive everyday, so if we are the last it is our rightful instinct to continue survival even in the face of hopelessness. Iam so glad you enjoyed this and really got into it, five times you read this wow! That is almost as much as I did because of editing and what not. Much love to you.
