A Winter's War...

A Winter's War...

Light a candle
Say a prayer
Let it melt
Hear the train
White smoke
Dances to their death
Whistle no name
Jews, lose their breath
Not deemed a patriotic fighter
Instead,
A bruised finger on a communist typewriter
Places to hide in black and white
A Jewish life, can still be right
Within an ivory key
They're crystal clear
I can almost hear the notes of tragedy
Sergeants stamped their own damn fear
Shameful gun, hot to touch
Innocent souls bled too much
Blood seeped through frost bitten ice
As the white turned to red
Kill another! The officer said
Poland was for history and sacrifice
The nazi invasion was for poison and human life
This barbaric behaviour should not be tolerated
Within a movement, from others, Hitler was hated!

Excellent poem Wayne, I visited Auschwitz recently, the feeling I got physically made me sick, I can't comprehend what went on there, I'd say most prayed for death.

A place I would love to go but at the same time, I think I'd feel like you, sick to my stomach, the tragedies that went on there, must be unspeakable, ? thanks Gerard for saying so ?

Dear Wayne, my oldest son's father was the son of survivors. Momma and Daddy were in Auschwitz.  The scars were horrible on them. They both had 7 siblings with only 1 sibling surviving with them.    Daddy had a wife and 3 children that died.   Daddy said he was on the truck with one of his brothers on the way to the gas chambers and somehow he fought and escaped his brother died.  They were from Poland.  My son is the only one left in the world to carry on the family name.  Momma always said she survived because a soldier sneeked food to her.  She was just a child. We must never forget... I commend you on this write..

Wayne, As long as I have air in me will speak for those that no longer can.  I loved and admired these two beautiful people and we all must speak of things that are evil in the world any time we can..God Bless You...

There is a terrible movement to try to diminish what shocking things took place- We must NEVER forget or look the other way but confront the inhumanity man is capable of inflicting on his fellow man and never forget that given certain sets of circumstances and evil leading them ..that  man is capable of awful atrocities -Thank you for reminding us of what we should never forget!
