THE AFFAIR
It was a secret
A salacious fact
A hidden trove of delight
It filled the void that ached us for so long
It excited us
We become whole
We were never meant to be
We shared each other selfishly
Others had a hold on us
The harm we were doing we couldn’t see
Lust held us together
What we lacked we had found
Hope was fleetingly fulfilled
Our bodies were meant to be intertwined
We almost felt free
Just a tryst it was
We understood bits of our reality
We only lived for the moment
We needed what we had found
A diversion from what we couldn’t disown

Evrod, my brother...another jem from one of my favorite poets...yeah the affair can certainly be a pull, but it's probably not for the soft hearted or thin-skinned looking for 'true love' and whatever you do, don't fall in love or you're 'screwed' lol...I love the way you wrote this with little or no emotion, but perfectly stated, as usual for you... great write man and great subject as well,,,

lol.. no emotions is right... wasn't based on me at all that's why..its more based on watching tv programmes , soap operas etc and people having affairs ... sometimes affairs keep relationships going.. people devalue them and assume that monogamy is best but how many wives have a happy marriage purely because their husbands without their knowledge have an affair..lol..
