African HD...

African HD...

Stealing food, from the innocent mouth,
What on earth!
This should never be found!
Babies with swollen bellies, heat attracts the flies,
Jesus Christ! What's going on?!
Does mother nature even cry?
Does she even exist?
How can this be accepted?
The sun, too hot where you are,
Has man's greed, gone too far?
Yes!
        Yes!
Are we looking for an answer?
Are we looking to the right people?
Are we killing this "hunger cancer"?
Is this just another direct debit charity?
£3 a month! £3 a month!
Time has to change,
Enough is enough!
Is this just another acceptance of reality?
Their suffering is even more clear on our 50" HD T.V
For our over privileged life, is this the price to really feel free?
White eyes,
Broken smile,
Desperate for a helping hand,
Mankind,
Darkened times,
Desperate for a fruitful land,
Who listens to a hurtful voice?
Tearful babies with no choice!
Another dead, of untreated disease,
This, has got to stop,
My god, please!
Together, we're worlds apart,
Has man's greed gone too far?
Yes!!
         Yes!!
Educated in a hut, built by a thirsty village,
Visited by stars, from their red carpet spillage,
Over here!
Smile for the camera!
Over here!
Hide from your vanity!
Wishing well,
Oh wishing well,
You give us running water,
If mother nature has gone,
Where on earth is the father?!
Has father became greedy,
While we're suffering and needy?
Something, seems to be sadly wrong,
Bob geldof repeating the same old song,
Let's pretend the world is a happy place,
Turn the channel over, ignore their face,
Is this, what we've become?!
Well if so, then only some!
People still care,
We are people!
They are people!
They see us!
We see them!
Which way does the love travel?
Is it one way?
Is it everywhere?
One thing is for sure,
We should all care!
Let's wake up,
From this rich and poor nightmare!!

Time to do something?

Yes!!!
           Yes!!!

Hello Wayne...

I haven't figured out how the adults live to be adults with enough substance for the unborn child to thrive and be born and the food runs out the child dies and the parents continue to live and reproduce...

Work on people's sympathy for their depopulation acceptance...

I sponsored children in Africa but, if our Government and the people here have to support the ones who don't support themselves maybe, their Country should do the same...

We're going downhill on a rapid slide people already not feeding their children here and it's not far away before we make Commercials to feed our starving children...

We have a need and I changed sponsorship...

It's more of parents choice here for now...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...

Hugs...

Hi sparrowsong. I am an African (from and live in Ghana). Africa has its own problems just like any other continent on this planet. I think Africa has been grossly misrepresented to the outside world. My parents had enough substance to support me just like many other mates of mine I lived with in my community.
The picture of flies flying over children with pot bellies are usually the pictures of communities at war. Wars which are sometimes fuelled by the action of external forces (Lybia as an example;  though some are created on the continent; Liberia, Rwanda, and others). During such times, there are shortages of food. Africa has good arable lands to feed itself. Africa exports to the West.
There are problems that we must confront head-on as Africans. There are problems we admit; but the picture is not as it is grossly painted out there. Isolated cases must not be generalised.
I lived in Ghana all my life. Never have I seen a wasted child visited by flies.
It's a great poem though Wayne Stubbs

Thanks very much, thanks for the comment, and also the truth! I believe that the media also grossly misrepresents these kinds of things too ?I fully agree with your comments, all the points here in my poem I hope that I was getting at, that something deep down is wrong, because as you say, there is enough arable land to do so, i think for me, we get educated in this matter in the wrong way, whether it's government's or something else, your comment was brilliant Anthony ?????

You're welcome brother. Your passion and show of concern in addressing what you felt was wrong is commendable. I salute.
