After The Ecstasy

A tale of toxic relations

The honeymoon is over
Expectations popped like a birthday balloon
Everyone's slightly uncomfortable
But no one's game to leave the room

So we meet all smiles
Rattle goes the bones
And chat around in circles
While creak go our homes
Lightly admiring things that matter not
An odor arises; something's arot

Closet doors remain shut tight
We dare not divulge what is not right
"Out of mind if out of sight"
Hold back from switching on the light

You flatter me and I too you
Our soles get sticky from the poo
We, gassbag, laugh and lighlty jest
But behind the clinical, lies a mess
Nothing deep or honest bares
To hide our dirty underwears

When I talked of things large obese
I saw your frown but carried on
You too hinted at my taboo beast
Yet I tightened the grin, rehearsing fake song
Meandering about in neighbourly dimensions
Not confessing our true intentions

How long will these flames burn
Upon each one's head a heap of coal
Cindering ash and paddles that churn
Wrath and spite in the mixing bowl

The honeymoon is over
Expectations popped like a birthday balloon
Everyone's slightly uncomfortable
But no one's game to leave the room
