Aging

Aging.
The obvious.
The
not so
obvious.
Easy
to see.
Aging.
Ravages
of time.
Breaking
down.
Failing
of the
machine.
Stooped
posture.
Wrinkled
skin.
Moving
slow.
Judged
by
appearance.
Over looked.
Dismissed.
Shallow
observation.
Not so
obvious.
Easily
missed.
Maturity
of vision.
Vision
refined.
Refined
by years
of toil,
experience,
pain.
Maturity
hammered
and honed.
Pounded
into
form.
Can’t be
known
till it’s
known.
Wisdom.
Takes time.
Trial and
error.
Wisdom
attained.
Not born.
Earned.
The young.
Can’t know
what they
don’t know.
Until they
do.
Takes time.
Takes
aging.

Hello JP...
Guess who?
You brought back a memory that wasn't too difficult to get of the webs...
I have always wanted to spend time with the older generation...
Older than my parents...
They liked kids...
They had great stories...
True life things...
You could see the memory flicker in their eye...
Now, the older generation...
It's so sad...
They don't open their door...
They want to be left alone...
They remember how they enjoyed the visits...
Random kids just knocking on the door...
Sometimes, well most of the time there were cookies everywhere...
You start to feel how Santa's stomach must have felt like...
Poor Santa...
Now, they don't have anyone to share their cookies with...
They lost all trust...
But, they'll always remember us...
Some call us the blessing kids...
Some say something about their last good child visitor...
Great write!
Thank you for sharing...

Unfortunately, now the younger seem like they just want the older to simply get out of the way.Â
Thanks for reading Sparrow.

Does wisdom come with age? I used to think so but now I find I'm more perplexed than ever by life the universe and everything. Great write John x
Unlike the young, we are wise enough to know how little we actually know.
Thanks for reading Marion.

Wow...perfect answer John...exactly!! X
A wise poem about wisdom acquired as one ages. I'm approaching a senior stage of my life and I know I have more experience--but wonder if I'm any wiser.
Hi Tom,
wisdom, a hard thing to put your finger on but it does accumulate over time.
Thank you for reading.
