Agony

The vilest horror rages on with no signs of abating.

All are prepared to kill another without hesitating.

No one sees the cessation of blood-thirsty carnage.

Neither side seems to be able to gain an advantage.

Millions more could be surrendered to the hell-fire.

A peace settlement is given over to irrational desire.

Slaughter has become nothing but a brutal attrition.

None seem capable of the most humane proposition.

Is there to be a resumption of simple sensible sanity ?

How can anyone choose to prolong the cruel agony ?
