Poem -

ALL HE EVER WANTS

All he ever wants is a bed for the night
If he had this he would be out like a light
Maybe some food that wouldn't go amiss
How can people in this world still live like thisĀ

The man doesn't take handouts or charity
For he has his pride and his upstanding dignity
He's easy to spot with his worn out clothesĀ
Every town or city has men like him I suppose

All this man wants is a little chat with you
A little conversation and a how do you do
If you feel generous maybe a pound in his hat
He won't beg or steal he's to respectful for that

I just wish there was something I could try and do
He needs more than my pity that's certainly true
So dear man there for the grace of God go IĀ
When I return home I will stifle a tear and cry

the radiance on her face
was comparable
to the light of dawn
now, she barely smiles...
