ALL HIS PENNIES

He is not religious
He is nine year old sure
And this... clouds his eyes...
droops his head
makes him frown
There is no god he knows
So he worry's at night
He can't find a place that will
place you
Just right
He misses your laughter
He misses your all
I observe as he struggles in a
nine year old squall
Of pain
But even so...
In an arcade
He drops pennies in hope
Every nerve ending rooting
for mechanical ropes
Because the prize is a chain just
like you used to wear
And so his ghost hands reach
out to manouver
Dead air
So he drops all his pennies
in nine year old hopes
That a magic exists
In mechanical ropes
In a cheap bit of tat that to him
links his worlds
To a lost bit of you that he'll prize,
Like a pearl, because
He is not religious
He is nine year old clear
And this frowns his head,
tears his eyes
makes him fear...
For you

this whole page is crying out to be read & needs no introduction, it simply speaks for itself ............ well crafted & emotionally charged in that oh' so subtle of ways only a poet seems able to pull off ......... N :)
Hi Neville...greatly appreciated my friend x
You are far more than just welcome M .. my pleasure entirely .. N x
You have that rare knack of taking any reader from pillar to post in just a few words of a poetic beat, a poetic heartbeat.
Sublime writing that cries out through the thoughts and mind process of a child and cries out to be deservedly read by more.
Thanks Marion and respect to you, for making me aware that nothing or no-one should be taken for granted in life or tucked away and ignored. x.
That's a lovely comment...thankyou Shaun...and this is indeed a poem based on truth...sadly...hugs x
