All I Can Be.

All I Can Be

A Dream

By

Jude Kyrie

Sometimes I wonder if I count for anything.
what do I believe?
What do I do?
What have I done?
where is my mark on the earth?
when my time passes
will I return to the earth as only dust?
I look out of the skyscraper condo tower.
The city buzzes below.
people are working like ants.
but who built this city?
who laid the first brick?
who had the dream?
It must have seemed an impossible dream
something from science fiction.
Yet in his head he saw
the vast metropolis of today.
He saw the wonders of a city
with a life of its own.
Growing expanding reinventing itself.
Where do I get a dream like his.
something so large it seems impossible.
The future is still science fiction.
My hands are a single pair
Can my hands alone build a sustainable world?
Remove poisons from the oceans
solve hunger and disease.
Maybe not but  maybe yes
Perhaps I can be the first brick
In the hands of the man
that started New York.
